Mogford Prize

2013

In 2013, Jeremy Mogford founded the prize wishing to celebrate the arts and his longstanding link to literary Oxford. As the founder of The Oxford Collection, and having enjoyed a lifetime of success in the hospitality industry, Jeremy decided his competition would relate specifically to food, drink or both…

THE OXFORD COLLECTION

2022

For over a decade the Mogford Prize offered an international award for short stories that had food and/or drink at their heart. While there were no restrictions on genre, we looked for fiction that could be enjoyed by guests in The Oxford Collection’s five star plus hotels and restaurants. Each year the £10,000 prize attracted up to 1200 stories from around the globe, both from published authors and aspiring young writers.

In 2022, the publication of The Oxford Collection Food and Drink Short Stories hardback book provided an opportunity to reflect on the future and in doing so the difficult decision was made that after ten wonderful years, the short story prize would come to an end in 2022 and will not be inviting any further entries for 2023 and beyond.
